Planning: Micro-elements

Cinematography
In the thriller production that I will produce with my group I plan to use different cinematography techniques to make my production conventional to a thriller.
Firstly, I will use close-up, this will be used when the main character Amani is staring at his sisters dead body. This will show how he feels and his fear of what happened. The shot captures the characters reaction and emotions.
Also long shot will be used to show Amani and his sisters dead body in the same scene. This shot allows the audience to see the whole scene and the characters.
Medium shot will be used when Amani wakes up in the room and we can see his body moving, trying to move. This allows the audience to see the struggle the character is going through.

High angle shot will be used when Amani is walking up the stairs and we see him from the top of the stairs bending down to touch the blood that he has noticed. The iconography in this scene will be the blood which shows that something has happened and makes the audience wonder and making them want to watch more to see what will happen next.

Panning shot can be used when Amani walks into the living room as he tries to find out what is going on.

Editing
Editing is another important section in the process of producing our thriller opening. We aim to use different editing techniques

Fade to black is when on shot moves into another shot in an edit and does not confuse the audience.

Reaction shot: thinks she sees something

Slow editing: when clips are put together at a normal pace and this is to create fluency

Sound

Diegetic sound: sound, which is part of the film world. e.g music from a radio or jukebox.

Non diegetic: sound , which is not part of the film world. e.g. soundtrack, voice overs.

Off the screen sound : you can hear the sound but you can see where its coming from.

  1. Very basic post...

This needs an introduction saying what Micro-Elements are and under each of them there should be examples of what you intend to do showing your influences and then you explaining how you will apply it to your own work...

Cinematography is alright but editing and sound need a lot more work and detail.

All examples should be in 'PEE' format - what will you do, give an example then evaluate it saying why and what it will do!
